Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's bilateral meeting with the country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started in New Delhi, the capital of India. This bilateral meeting started in New Delhi on Friday evening. Matters related to the interests of both countries will be discussed in the meeting. It is expected that the prime ministers of the two countries will discuss bilateral trade and the Rohingya issue.
Earlier, Sheikh Hasina arrived in New Delhi at around 1 pm local time (1:30 am Bangladesh time) on the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the G-20 Summit. Hours after arriving in New Delhi, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina began a bilateral meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the evening.
Earlier in a press conference on Thursday, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said that three Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) could be signed between Dhaka and New Delhi during the Prime Minister's visit to India. Three MoUs will be signed on agricultural research, cultural exchange and facilitation of people-to-people transactions between the two countries.
Momen said, in the 'One Earth' and 'One Family' sessions, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh will highlight how to tackle the challenges of climate change, economic recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic, severe disruption of global supply of essential commodities like fuel, food and fertilizers due to war in Europe.
The foreign minister also said that apart from this, the prime minister will present the experience of Bangladesh's incredible success in various socio-economic fields during the tenure of the current government to the participating world leaders.
