Bir Bikrom Shawkat Ali dies

The valiant Freedom Fighter (FF) Bir Bikrom Shawkat Ali died in Dhaka
Bangobondhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital at 5am on Monday
(August 22).
He was 73. He left behind two sons and four daughters, wife, grandsons, a
host of relatives, friends and well-wishers to mourn his death. He will be
buried in his family graveyard at 11.00 am on Tuesday.
The elder son of Shawkat Ali Saifullah Shawkat said his father had been
suffering from lever cancer for long. He became very sick on July 30 and
was admitted to Dhaka Bangobondhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College
Hospital where his condition was improved. But he became very sick
again on Sunday. His physicians informed the death news to his relatives.
The patriot Shawkat Ali was elected as Chilmari upazila chairman for five
years continuously. He was philanthropist and many people were
benefitted by him. He was awarded as Bir Bikrom for his heroic Freedom
Fighting in 1971.He participated in front battle in Kurigram-Roumari
region sub sector Mainkerchar under sector no-11 in the great Freedom
Fight. He was bullet injured in Hatia fighting under Ulipur upazila on
November 13, 1971.
The valiant Freedom Fighter (FF) Bir Bikrom Shawkat Ali was born at
Dakkhin Wari under Raniganj union of Chilmari upazila. His father’s
name was Izab Ali and mother Sharituz Nesa.
People of all walks of life including state Minister for Primary and Mass
education and MP of Kurigram-4 constituency Md. Zakir Hossain, MP of
Kurigram-1 Md. Aslam Hossain Saodagar, MP of Kurigram-2 Panir Uddin
Ahmed, MP of Kurigram-3MA Matin, Kurigram Deputy Commissioner
Md, Resaul Karim, Superintendent of Police Sayada Jannat Ara, President
of district unit of AL and former MP and chairman of Zila Parishad Md.
Jafar Ali, general secretary(AL) and also sadar upazila parishad chairman
Aman Uddin Ahmed Monju, Lawyers Association, press club, FF Sangsad
command, District Sports Organization and Shilpokala Academy
expressed deep shock..
