The beloved Prophet (SAW) initiated the Sahabah in the same way. Everyone should give up codependency from the heart. He used to take Bayat in this regard. Narrated Awf Ibn Malik Al Ashzai (RA): In the presence of seven or eight or nine of us, Rasulullah (SAW) said, 'Why do you not pledge allegiance to Rasulullah (SAW)?' I have taken the oath of allegiance to him. We said, O Messenger of Allah, we have pledged allegiance to you. He said again, "Why are you not pledging allegiance to Rasulullah (SAW)?" The narrator said, Then we raised our hands and said, O Messenger of Allah, we have taken the pledge of allegiance to you before, now what shall we pledge to you again? He said, 'Worship Allah, do not associate anyone with Him, and pray five times. And obey Allah. He said another thing quietly, that is not to touch people for anything. The narrator said, I then saw that the whip fell from the hands of some of the party who had taken the oath while on the back of a camel, but he did not ask anyone to hand it over; Instead, he lowered himself. (Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 2293)
